Happy New Year! I hope you are enjoying my blog posts and that they give you a little insight to all of the amazing people we encounter on our quest to find well-made, unique items for our store.
Meeting new people and finding out their story is my favorite part of owning our store. When I first met Norman and Emanuel of NB Metalworks & EB Metalworks, they were polite and helpful but reserved. As time went by, I learned that Norman had a dry sense of humor and could deliver a line without cracking a smile. They were both gentle giants that took pride in their work and valued family and traditions. The brothers learned how to weld by their fathers side. Both men now own their own welding shops just houses apart from each other in the heart of Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Each designing and creating unique hand forged gifts and accessories out of iron.
I wish I could show you a picture of their beautiful homes, welding shops (all kept meticulously clean) and the people that work there. Out of respect for their beliefs, Greg and I never ask to take pictures of our builders and artisans who are Amish. The Amish believe that photographs in which they can be recognized violate the Biblical commandment, “Thou shalt not make unto thyself a graven image.” Instead I will show you pictures of some of the items that we carry in the store, just stop in.
